Bake Sale to Benefit Veterans
The U.S. Soldiers Foundation, with offices in Monroe, will partner with Wal Mart and area churches in Bastrop for a giant bake sale to benefit our veterans. All donated cakes and pies will sell for $15 each. The sale will be located at Wal Mart on the Mer Rouge Road. Contact Amy Piro at 318-737-7009 for more information on donating baked goods.

A Ribbon Cutting sponsored by the Chamber will be held for Verizons to celebrate their new location at 2044 E. Madison in Bastrop. Come out and see their new location.

Luncheon for Governor Jindal
The Chamber is hosting a luncheon for Gov. Jindal at the Bastrop Municipal Center. The luncheon will begin at 12:00 noon. Tickets are $15 each and must be purchased prior to the event. Call the Chamber at 318-281-3794 for more information.

The Pea Cooking Crew will be hosting a "pea cooking" for Congressman Rodney Alexander at the Morehouse Country Club on Gladney Drive in Bastrop.

3rd Annual Ride For Hope
Morehouse Cancer Fund is hosting their Annual Ride for Hope. The event will feature motorcycles and antique cars racing around the parish to claim prize money over a 2 hour period. Held at the Bastrop Municipal Center, the event will offer lunch and fun activities. In addition, cancer survivors in attendance will be recognized.

Luncheon for Commissioner Foster Campbell
The Chamber will be hosting a luncheon for Commissioner Foster Campbell, who is in charge of the statewide regulatory agency for public utilities and the oil industry. The luncheon will be held at the Visitor Center in Bastrop and tickets are $10 each.

Grand Opening of the MAC
The Morehouse Activity Center (the MAC)will be celebrating a full week-end of celebrations in conjunction with their grand opening. More details will be available as to times and events within the next few months.

Art Festival
Friends of Bastrop Main Street are hosting an Art Festival the first Saturday in November at the Bastrop Farmer's Market on East Madison. Over 70 dealers will be in attendance, along with many food vendors. Call the Chamber for more information.
